Green Beans with Bacon

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Green Beans
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 4 slices Bacon
  • 2 teaspoons Black Pepper
  • 4 cups Water

Instructions

  • If using fresh green beans, cut off the ends, then cut the beans in half
  • If using frozen green beans, let them defrost about 30 minutes
  • Heat the water in a medium pot over high heat until it's boiling
  • Cut the bacon into bite-sized pieces
  • Add the salt and green beans to the water
  • Boils for 5 minutes
  • Drain the beans and set aside
  • In a medium saucepan, cook the bacon pieces over medium heat for 7 minutes, stirring frequently
  • Don't burn the bacon, it may cook faster, depending on fat content
  • Drain the bacon, reserving about two tablespoons of the fat
  • Return the bacon, fat, and green beans to the saucepan
  • Saute the mixture for 2 minutes, stirring frequently
  • Sprinkle the pepper over the beans
  • Serve
