Old-School Baked Sweet Potatoes

You can’t really get more basic that just baking a sweet potato in foil. I have learned that if you spice up the outside a little bit, you get a really great flavor. So this recipe does a little of that. Depending on the size of the sweet potato you may want to increase or decrease the spices. Use what you like to get a flavor that appeals to you.

Old-School Baked Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients

  • 1 large Sweet Potato
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1 teaspoon Butter

Instructions

  • Puncture the skin in several places with a fork
  • Preheat your oven to 350F
  • Lay out a piece of foil large enough to wrap around the sweet potato twice.
  • Put the butter directly on the foil
  • Sprinkle the spices over the butter
  • Set the sweet potato onto the butter and spices
  • Wrap the sweet potato
  • Bake at least 40 minutes
  • Remove the sweet potato from the oven
  • Unwrap the foil
  • Cut the sweet potato in half longwise and serve
